Top 5 Best Coffee Shops in the City of Philadelphia:

Updated: Feb 21

If you have ever been to the city of Philadelphia - you know there is a coffee shop on literally every corner. Since moving to Philly, I have been on the hunt for the best coffee shop (okay, so I am biased towards chai tea lattes with oat milk BUT I have tasted my fair share of drinks at all the cafes below and even called in the help of some of my fellow coffee lovers to finalize this list). Here are my top 5 favorite coffee shops in Philadelphia (in no particular order).

1. Menagerie: this place has it all - coffee, vibes & and snacks! Highly recommend a sweet treat from here. I love that they go the extra mile every time and decorate the drinks with foam art. Plenty of seating and a great space to work! Plus it is just so CUTE and in the best area of Old City.

2. Old City Coffee: Located on a cute cobblestone stone street this is a true old school coffee shop! This location is all about the DRINK! Simple and delicious! Added bonus - they sell their own freshly ground coffee beans! Recently they opened a space next store for indoor dining.

3. One Shot Cafe: SO COZY! This spot is all about the atmosphere and the vibes. It is a great spot to linger as the drinks & food are just as good as the environment. Great spot in Fishtown.

4. Elixr: This coffee shop is all about QUALITY! They have multiple locations around the city - as well as Nashville TN. It is not an opinion, their coffee is delicious. Elixr has since won second place in the 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2022 United States Barista Championships. With trendy decor & tasty drinks this is a MUST in Philadelphia.

5. Vernick Coffee Bar: This is not your typical coffee shop - the modern decor will make you feel like you are somewhere other than Philly. The chef here has won a James Beard Award. The convenient location of this place makes it easy to reach even in rush hours. Great spot to sit down for breakfast!
