A Weekend in Denver: Girls Trip Edition

Updated: Jul 5

I’m very excited to sit down and finally recap a girls trip that’s been over a year in the making!! If you have ever planned a trip with your besties I’m sure you can relate - it’s hard to find a weekend that works for everyone. This years destination was none-other then the lovely state of Colorado! We stayed in Denver but also spent time in and around the Rocky Mountains. From the vibrant street art, to chic boutiques, hipster coffee shops, scooter rides to breathtaking mountain views, Denver has it all! I am going to break down my favorite things we did on the trip.

WHERE TO STAY: We stayed in an Airbnb in Sunnyside, but there are some great hotels such as the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Denver, Life House Lower Highlands or The Ramble Hotel (& we'd be happy to tell you the perks we get at these).

WHAT TO DO:

  1. Visit the Rocky Mountains

  2. Explore Rhino

  3. Visit Golden

WHERE TO EAT:

  1. Tavernetta

  2. Perdida Kitchen

  3. Park Burger

  4. Avanti

  5. Bacon Social House

WHERE TO DRINK:

  1. Stem Cider

  2. Hazel Cocktail Bar

  3. B&GC Cocktail Bar

The Rocky Mountains: There are a few ways to do this - a traditional hike OR a (long) drive to the top. The weather was not great when we went to The Rockies, so we decided to do the drive. It was BREATHTAKING! We took on a few small trails at different altitudes with each view being better than the next. (PRO TIP: Be sure to reserve a time slot between May-October to get into the national park, see more information here). On the way into the Rockies - I would recommend stopping in Estes to shop & eat (IT GIRLS TIP: If you are looking to grab a meal, Estes Eggs was a super great no frills diner).

THE FOOD DETAILS:

Tavernetta: This is an absolute MUST in Denver. I can’t say enough good things about this place!! The service was impeccable - the attentive and friendly service truly adds to the overall dining experience (I’m talking a table side sommelier, and your napkin being folded for you when you step away). The modern decor was perfectly curated. Now to the star of the show - THE FOOD! Everything here was insane (we tried multiple apps, entrees & desserts) but the tagliatelle was my absolute favorite! I mean who doesn’t love a lobster pasta? It's worth mentioning that Tavernetta is known to be on the higher end in terms of pricing BUT I promise this is worth it for a special meal.

Peridida Kitchen: The perfect spot for a group dinner with friends (or in our case our girls trip). The vibes were great! The restaurant felt very “LA” especially given that it was indoor/outdoor dining. The decor is so chic - and great for any and all Instagram photos! We loved our drinks - I highly recommend the prickly pear margarita. The food was good too (def do guac & tacos) but forewarning, everything we had was VERY spicy.

Park Burger: This place pleasantly surprised me! They had an adorable outdoor space - great for a casual lunch or dinner. The food was delicious & they had plenty of beer and cider options too. We stuck with the classic burger and it did not disappoint!

Avanti: We went to the Boulder Location - but this was a great spot to go after a long day of hiking. There is truly an option for everyone (there were so many great vendors)! The prices are good, the atmosphere is fun & youthful (with a great outdoor space) and the food was super tasty. Highly recommend grabbing a seat outside on the roofdeck.

Bacon Social Club: An upbeat boozy brunch spot - great for friends! They have options for everyone. Don’t let the name fool you - we had vegetarians in our group. There are quite a few locations in the city; we went to the one in Sunnyside (which had cute outdoor seating). Highly recommend the pancakes - these were a great sweet treat for the table. A reservation here is needed on weekends as it was quite crowded.

THE DRINK DETAILS:

B&GC Cocktail Bar:

An amazing cocktail bar in downtown Denver! This is a REAL speakeasy - truly you wouldn’t be able to find this spot unless you knew about it. The entrance can be found around the back (yes, it is in the alley). When you arrive the host takes you through a stairwell and down to the basement where the vibes are immaculate. We chose to roll the dice and put the faith in our bartender and order the “take a chance” where the bartender crafted us each a delicious cocktail. Needless to say - the bartenders here are GREAT at what they do! Our drinks were all very different but all were delicious (even the zero proof). FYI: reservations are a MUST (they were turning people away without one).

Stem Ciders: This came highly reccomended from one of our waitresses in town. This is your typical brewery environment - with snacks & drinks. Most of ciders were on the sweeter side but I particularly loved the apricot cider. Great stop in Rhino!

Hazel Cocktail Bar: This cocktail bar gives local & small town feels. The bartender was a delight and the drinks were all really tasty. A great spot on a really adorable street.
